Note that the same amount of dust that builds up on your end tables, coffee table and television will also build up on your upholstery. It is just not as noticeable on fabrics. Fabric, when placed on furniture, behaves no differently than if it were made into an article of clothing such as pair of jeans or a T- shirt.
Flip and rotate the cushions once a month if the design of the cushions make this possible.
This insures even fading of fabric and
even wear of the foam cores inside.
If there are zippers on the backs, reach in and fluff the stuffing to keep the furniture looking newer longer.
Have the upholstered furniture cleaned by a trained, insured professional.
It’s a small investment and it will extend the life
of your furniture.
Avoid eating/drinking on the upholstery.
Even though many of us do it, upholstery is still not meant for contact with food or drink.
Clean spills immediately!
Different fabric require different cleaning methods.
Cleaning codes are located on the manufacturers tag
Here is a list of cleaning codes related to upholstery:
W - Spot clean with a water based upholstery shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Avoid the tendency to over-wet the fabric.
Again, use a professional cleaner for overall cleaning.
S - Use only a water-free, upholstery-cleaning agent for occasional spot cleaning.
Do not use water.
Water may cause shrinkage, bleeding, or water-spots and any resulting damage may void factory warranties.
WS - Either Water Based or Solvent based upholstery cleaners are acceptable for use to spot clean on these types of fabrics.
X - Do not use any cleaning chemicals.
Use a non- metallic brush to loosen soil from the fabrics. Usually found on Silks and Satins.
Taft Furniture does not carry any “X” coded fabrics at this time.
Q. - Why doesn't my reclining seat work for me, but works for other members of my family?
Answer:
Many Reclining furniture mechanisms work with gravity. If the person is sitting either too far
forward of too far back in the seat, the reclining mechanism may not operate properly. You must sit at a 90-degree angle to the
seat back and all the way back to operate the reclining mechanism
Q. - My furniture fabric is pilling. What can I do about it?
Answer:
Pilling can be maintained very easily at home by using a fabric shaver available at most discount stores. Using the fabric shaver on
on a regular basis will control the pilling until the fabric stops shedding
Q. - How do I clean my leather furniture?
Answer:

Q. - Why do my wooden chairs wobble?
Check the levelers on the bottom of each leg. Adjust as needed.
Because some homes have unlevel floors, it is best to place chair on a board or the top of the table to check to see if level.
Q. - My dresser drawers stick. What can I do?
Take some soap and coat the tracks slightly.
This should lubricate them so they do not stick.
Q. - Why is my new set so much higher than my old one?
While this is expected, it certainly can be surprising. However, There are several easy remedies to solve this. The first rule
is…"Change the height, not the mattress!" After all, while you're asleep, you don't care how high your mattress looks. The most
important thing is a good night's sleep. But don't fret…ask your TAFT bedding expert about the following options. They would be
happy to help you.
Low Profile Boxspring-- a matching boxspring of equal quality at half the height
Low Profile Frame-- a strong metal bed frame of equal quality at half the height
Drop down rails-- a lower height rail system that accommodates a headboard and footboard.
