Design/Sales Associate

Taft Furniture and Sleep Center has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic home furnishings Sales/Design Associate in our Albany location. If you have the ability to provide high quality customer service and enjoy engaging in positive experiences with your customers, then you have the potential to earn up to $70,000 annually plus. Product knowledge and design training will be provided.
Essential Functions Include:
Ensuring customers receive outstanding service by establishing their needs for home furnishings.
Accurately and effectively complete all transactions.
Monitor and review all existing orders. Keep customers informed of delays or arrivals.
Follow-up on special orders and orders waiting delivery.
Communicate with other departments regarding any special issues or delivery issues.
Keep displays crisp in appearance.
Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions and advertisements.
Assist in tag changes.
Qualifications Include:
Retail sales experience is REQUIRED.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Full Commission
Paid training.

Facility Maintenance Support
Great opportunity to work at New York’s Largest Furniture Store!! Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is seeking an experienced Facility Maintenance Support specialist to assist in maintaining the structures of the establishments.
Essential Functions:
Repair or replace defective equipment parts.
Maintain the vehicles used by the support team.
Perform routine preventative maintenance.
Inspect drives, motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform maintenance actions.
Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, lifts, saws, drills and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
Inspect, operate and test machinery.
Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall and other parts of the building.
Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions or other wooden structures such as sheds and outbuildings.
Purchase supplies need to perform tasks in accordance with company policy guides.
Operation of rental equipment.
Snow removal and grounds maintenance.
Qualifications Include:
Knowledge and demonstrated experience in performing work in all areas of building maintenance, including, but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, snow removal, and housekeeping.
Must be able to work as a team and independently.
Clean and valid driver’s license.
Two to four years of related experience.
Must be able to operate all tools to perform the duties listed above.
This is a full time position with a Monday-Friday schedule. Limited on-call is required when necessary.


Front Counter Associate
Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is currently recruiting for a permanent Part Time FRONT COUNTER ASSOCIATE in our Albany, NY store. This position has the possibility of going FULL TIME. Our team-oriented Associates are dedicated to providing our customers exceptional customer service and they are looking for another professional to join their team.
Essential Functions Include:
Greet customers and process orders in a timely fashion.
Process sales orders and cancellations.
Assist customers with financing.
Complete all finance paperwork and process it within STORIS and ensure all paperwork is accounted for against daily report.
Account for all daily transactions with STORIS. Balance his/her drawer against daily report at end of shift.
Perform general office duties such as answering phones and filing.
Qualifications Include:
Must be able to communicate well in verbal and written form.
Must possess positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
Must be computer literate.
Mathematical ability.
Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.
Candidates MUST possess customer service experience in a retail environment.
This is a permanent part time position (up to 29 hours/week), with the possibility of working full time. Full time benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off, and company discount. You must be dependable and able to work flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends and holidays).
