Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for an experienced Upholstery Technician to join our team.  Primary responsibility is to repair products in accordance with quality and productivity guidelines performed in the repair shop.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Work as part of a team to repair all product for stock and customer delivery.  This includes ensuring the product is safe and meets factory specifications.
  • Read work orders and apply knowledge and experience with materials in order to determine types and amounts of materials required to repair pieces.
  • Repair furniture frames, upholstery, springs and replace wooden parts and pieces.
  • Replace, fit, install and secure materials on frames using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement and/or staples.
  • Make, restore or re-build upholstered furniture using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
  • Re-build furniture loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt and/or foam padding to form smooth rounded surfaces.
  • Maintain records of time required to perform each job.
  • Repair furniture frames and refinish exposed wood.
  • Sew rips or tears in material by hand to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
  • Double check all designated products to be inspected including spot cleaning, touch up and assembly.
  • Work to achieve a high level of productivity as set by the Inventory Control Manager.

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in Upholstery Repair.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment required for upholstering.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions of addition and subtraction.
  • Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs.


Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for a dynamic and creative Design Center Associate to support the success of our new and exciting Design Center.  You must be a self-starter and have the ability to provide outstanding service with our customers in selecting fabrics and other custom order options.  You must also enjoy the excitement of assisting customers designing custom furniture that is exclusively theirs.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by establishing the customer’s needs for Special Order Products by presenting product features and benefits, warranties, store policies and payment and/or finance options.
  • Monitor your customer’s orders informing them of their order status of arrivals and delays.
  • Work closely with Sales Representatives from each manufacturer.
  • Maintain display area and keep up its’ appearance.
  • Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions and advertisements.
  • Assist in internet sales.
  • Use Taft’s website, social media, email and the internet for use in customer communication and sales.
  • Create a customer base.

Qualifications Include:

  • Ability to comprehend all various options to customize product designs by communicating to customers, including all available options and pricing.
  • Experience processing information through computer systems.
  • Experience using the internet, email and social media for use in customer communication and design.
  • Excellent customer relation skills
  • .Ability to complete furniture and bedding sales training.

We are seeking part time and full time help.  The position requires working weekends and holidays which offers the maximum capacity for making additional income.  Salary is $15/hour plus commission.


Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for a Full Time Delivery Manager.  Primary responsibilities are to manage the customer home delivery department and the supervision of all delivery team members.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Schedule all in home deliveries via a routing system to ensure the most efficient use of company expenses.
  • Maintain and document the service needs of company vehicles.
  • Supervise employees involved with the delivery preparation and delivery process.
  • Ensure all company vehicles and employees meet the proper appearance plan as stated in the company policy guide.
  • Document any and all issues related to the delivery process. 
  • Manage completion percentage to ensure high efficiency.
  • Responsible for following all safety rules and procedures as well as all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications Include:

  • Previous warehouse and delivery experience.
  • Supervisory experience of ten(10) or more staff required.
  • Must be experienced with windows based routing systems.
  • Must have a clean and valid driver's license.


Essential Functions Include:

  • Assist in scheduling all in-home deliveries via a routing system.
  • Assisting in the routing of all trucks with assigned customer orders and proper paperwork.
  • Answer phone in support of both customers and other Taft departments.
  • Data entry for delivery and SOP paperwork including finalization of sales.
  • Document all issues related to the delivery process including damages to property, product and employees.
  • Document the delivery completion percentage by team, striving to hit the overall goal of 98% after service.
  • Assist in SOP inventories.
  • Support the SOP Manager.


Essential Functions Include:

  • Assist Director of Sales with recruiting, selecting, orienting and training, while complying with all state and federal regulations.
  • Assist with monitoring sales activities to ensure customers receive exceptional service.
  • Assist Sales Associates with maintaining relationships with customers and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Maintain Sales Associate schedules, ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Assist with ongoing training, coaching and development of Sales Associates.
  • Assist with customer complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances or conflicts.
  • Maintain high level of knowledge of products.
  • Establish and maintain exceptional interpersonal relationships. Promote a positive and teamwork environment.
  • Assist Director of Sales with all areas of store operations.

Qualifications Include:

  • Ability to use internet and social media to increase sales.
  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Microsoft Suite.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.
  • Prior management experience preferred.


Essential Functions Include:

  • Perform as a driver or helper in a company delivery truck in accordance with all city, state and country road rules.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle.
  • Maintain the paperwork of all deliveries as laid out by the company route plan.
  • Properly protect, load and unload all product scheduled for that delivery route.
  • Insure all trash and recycles are properly disposed of or recycled.
  • Work directly with all customers in the home and via phone in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Properly use tools such as blankets to protect product and property during the delivery process.
  • Responsible for all safety rules and procedures.

Qualifications Include:

  • You must project a neat, courteous and professional manner to all customers at all times.
  • Ability to get along with a variety of personalities and individuals.
  • Must be able to read English and perform basic mathematical functions.
  • Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Must have a clean and valid NYS Driver's License.
  • A minimum of 2 years furniture delivery experience is preferred but not required.

This position works varied hours with some flexibility expected. This position has a high earning potential of approximately $15-$21/hour. Salary is based on a daily rate and a percentage of delivered merchandise.


Essential Duties Include:

  • Advise customers of product warranty information and assist customers with warranty related questions.
  • Provide customers with prompt, friendly service.
  • Handle all customer concerns in a prompt and courteous way.
  • Properly route and schedule service technician appointments in accordance with mapping/routing guidelines.
  • Place purchase orders with various vendors for replacement parts and follow up with customers to relay details of how we will correct their problem.
  • Assist customers on the phone and in person in the store.


  • Two (2) or more years experience of prior customer service experience via phone and in-person.
  • Troubleshooting experience.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal and written form.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Courteous and professional.


Essential Duties Include:

  • Receiving incoming shipments of merchandise
  • Unloading from trailers, racks and shelves by hand or forklift
  • Convey materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas using hand truck and power device
  • Verify receipts against delivery manifest
  • Stock merchandise
  • Pull customer orders
  • Inspect and pack a variety of products using shrink-wrap
  • Assemble orders for pick-up or for loading delivery truck
  • General duties include straightening shelves, sweeping floors, bailing cardboard, moving refuse and general housekeeping.

Qualifications Include:

  • Candidate must meet age requirements for machinery operation (18 years old)
  • Must be able to read English and perform the basic mathematical functions of addition and subtraction
  • Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs
  • Must project a courteous and professional manner to internal and external customers.

Physical Demands Include:

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, handling, reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds
  • Must be familiar with proper loading techniques, company shipping practices, use of shipping documents, maintenance of records and invoicing of orders
