ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

We have an exciting new position.  Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is seeking an Administrative Assistant to support all aspects of business.  This position reports directly to the Executive Director to the President.  You will provide administrative support to all departments including managers, employees and customers.  You will also assist the e-commence department.  The Administrative Assistant will have at least two (2) years of administrative support experience.  A flexible retail schedule is required (some weekends, evenings, holidays).  You must be customer service oriented and be able to effectively communicate via phone, email and in-person.  

 

ASSISTANT TO DIRECTOR OF SALES

We are Growing!! Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is the area's largest furniture store with over 40 years of providing the Capital District with the largest selection of affordable home furnishings. Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for an Assistant to Director of Sales to assist the Director of Sales and Sales Department in achieving store goals by utilizing exceptional customer service and knowledge while building long term customer relationships.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Assist Director of Sales with recruiting, selecting, orienting and training.
  • Assist with monitoring sales activities to ensure customers receive exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to use internet and social media to increase sales with a strong understand of e-commerce.
  • Maintain Sales Associate schedules, ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Assist with customer complaints, settle disputes, resolve grievances or conflicts.Maintain high level of product knowledge through training and manufacture representatives.
  • Establish and maintain exceptional interpersonal relationships. Promote a positive teamwork environment, while promoting consistent reinforcement of company selling techniques within company policies.
  • Assist Director of Sales with all areas of store operations.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Microsoft Suite.
  • Must possess a professional demeanor and excellent communication skills.
  • Prior retail management experience preferred.

 

DESIGN/SALES ASSOCIATES - ALBANY AND SARATOGA LOCATIONS

 

We have exciting opportunities to join our team as a Design/Sales Associate in our Albany or Saratoga Springs location stores.  Are you an energetic individual who has a passion for sales and enjoys the excitement of home furnishing design?  If you have the ability to provide high quality customer service and enjoy engaging in positive experiences with your customers, then you have the potential to earn up to an additional $1,000/month.  We provide product knowledge and training at $ 11/hour.  Once trained, this position becomes Full Commission.

 

Essential Functions Include:

  • Ensure customers receive outstanding service by establishing their needs for home furnishings.
  • Accurately and effectively complete all transactions.
  • Monitor and review all existing orders.  Keep customers informed of delays or arrivals.
  • Follow up on special orders and orders awaiting delivery.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding any special issues or delivery issues.
  • Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions and advertisements.

Qualifications Include:

  • Retail sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Outstanding customer service experience.

 

UPHOLSTERY TECHNICIAN

Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for an experienced Upholstery Technician to join our team.  Primary responsibility is to repair products in accordance with quality and productivity guidelines performed in the repair shop.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Work as part of a team to repair all product for stock and customer delivery.  This includes ensuring the product is safe and meets factory specifications.
  • Read work orders and apply knowledge and experience with materials in order to determine types and amounts of materials required to repair pieces.
  • Repair furniture frames, upholstery, springs and replace wooden parts and pieces.
  • Replace, fit, install and secure materials on frames using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement and/or staples.
  • Make, restore or re-build upholstered furniture using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
  • Re-build furniture loose fiber stuffing, cotton, felt and/or foam padding to form smooth rounded surfaces.
  • Maintain records of time required to perform each job.
  • Repair furniture frames and refinish exposed wood.
  • Sew rips or tears in material by hand to seam cushions and join various sections of covering material.
  • Double check all designated products to be inspected including spot cleaning, touch up and assembly.
  • Work to achieve a high level of productivity as set by the Inventory Control Manager.

Qualifications Include:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in Upholstery Repair.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment required for upholstering.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions of addition and subtraction.
  • Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs.

 

DELIVERY/SOP SUPPORT

Essential Functions Include:

  • Assist in scheduling all in-home deliveries via a routing system.
  • Assisting in the routing of all trucks with assigned customer orders and proper paperwork.
  • Answer phone in support of both customers and other Taft departments.
  • Data entry for delivery and SOP paperwork including finalization of sales.
  • Document all issues related to the delivery process including damages to property, product and employees.
  • Document the delivery completion percentage by team, striving to hit the overall goal of 98% after service.
  • Assist in SOP inventories.
  • Support the SOP Manager.

 

DELIVERY DRIVER-NEW IMPROVED PAY PLAN

Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is recruiting for an EXPERIENCED Furniture Delivery Driver. This position is primarily responsible for the driving of company vehicles and delivering products to customers' homes.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Perform as a driver or helper in a company delivery truck in accordance with all city, state and country road rules.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of the delivery vehicle.
  • Maintain the paperwork of all deliveries as laid out by the company route plan.
  • Properly protect, load and unload all product scheduled for that delivery route.
  • Insure all trash and recycles are properly disposed of or recycled.
  • Work directly with all customers in the home and via phone in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Properly use tools such as blankets to protect product and property during the delivery process.
  • Responsible for all safety rules and procedures.

Requirements Include:

  1. You must project a neat, courteous and professional manner to all customers at all times.
  2. Ability to get along with a variety of personalities and individuals.
  3. Must be able to read English and perform basic mathematical functions.
  4. Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs.
  5. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
  6. Must have a clean and valid NYS Driver's License.
  7. A minimum of 2 years furniture delivery experience is required.

This position works varied hours with some flexibility expected. This position has a high earning potential of approximately $15-$21/hour, OR HIGHER WITH OUR NEW PAY PLAN. Salary is based on mileage, stops and commission, plus incentives.

 

WAREHOUSE MATERIAL HANDLER (FULL TIME - ALBANY LOCATION)

Essential Functions Include:

  • Receiving incoming shipments of merchandise
  • Unloading from trailers, racks and shelves by hand or forklift
  • Convey materials to or from storage or worksites to designated areas using hand truck and power device
  • Verify receipts against delivery manifest
  • Stock merchandise
  • Pull customer orders
  • Inspect and pack a variety of products using shrink-wrap
  • Assemble orders for pick-up or for loading delivery truck
  • General duties include straightening shelves, sweeping floors, bailing cardboard, moving refuse and general housekeeping.

Qualifications Include:

  • Candidate must meet age requirements for machinery operation (18 years old)
  • Must be able to read English and perform the basic mathematical functions of addition and subtraction
  • Must be accurate in verifying repetitive number sequences such as SKUs
  • Must project a courteous and professional manner to internal and external customers.

Physical Demands Include:

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, handling, reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, bending
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds
  • Must be familiar with proper loading techniques, company shipping practices, use of shipping documents, maintenance of records and invoicing of orders.

 

FRONT COUNTER ASSOCIATE (FULL TIME AND PART TIME-ALBANY LOCATION)

Taft Furniture and Sleep Center is currently recruiting for a Full Time and Part Time FRONT COUNTER ASSOCIATE in our Albany, NY store. Our team-oriented Associates are dedicated to providing our customers exceptional customer service and they are looking for another professional to join their team.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet customers and process orders in a timely fashion.
  • Process sales orders and cancellations.
  • Assist customers with financing.
  • Complete all finance paperwork and process it within STORIS and ensure all paperwork is accounted for against daily report.
  • Account for all daily transactions with STORIS. Balance his/her drawer against daily report at end of shift.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones and filing.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must be able to communicate well in verbal and written form.
  • Must possess positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Mathematical ability.
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor.

Candidates MUST possess customer service experience in a retail environment. You must be dependable and be able to work flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends and holidays).
